What Does Your Desk Look Like?
For some odd reason, I had four of my connections ask me what my working space looks like…and which I thought I had shared it before, here it is. I won’t bore you with a story. Suffice it to say, the only item that runs Windows anything is the small convertible Dell 5600 Venue 10 tablet next to my wallet. There are two MacBooks for a unique reason. When I was in getting my CS degree, we learned FORTRAN and then Unix from the console or command line. I use the command line skills almost daily on the console for Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and the PHP that powers WordPress. However when I pull up my terminal and start type command line to my OS X Mac my team is completely befuddled. Then they get the big surprise when I ask them to take my meeting notes and summarize.
For any of you that want to see something really old school what you see above is Pitman Shorthand. My grandmother is deceased quite some time was a crackerjack legal secretary, and she could type 90 WPM on an IBM Selectric. She and I spent countless hours when she was babysitting. Her version of video games was shorthand and typing both of which I was fluent with by the time I graduate high school. What an incredible gift! To this day, there isn’t an associate in our office that can out type me..my average at 97% accurate on the half-hour Mavis Bacon test is around 124 WPM and I still take meeting notes on a stenography pad.
If anyone is aware of a shorthand application that runs on iOS I beg you to share it..its what the iPad Pro was built for.
